MDMA (Multi Dimensional Multiple Access)

The transmission technology MDMA (Multi Dimensional Multiple Access), developed by Nanotron Technologies, is a new fundamental technology for the wireless communication of the future: MDMA offers a wide range of applications, is cost-effective, reliable and avoids human exposure. The trade press has called it simply a “quantum leap”. MDMA can be illustrated as follows:

Key Features of MDMA

  • Optimal use of expensive frequencies
  • Quality on Demand
  • High resistance to interference
  • Reduction of human exposure
  • Increased battery lifetime
  • Reduced cost of devices

MDMA Solves Urgent Wireless Problems

MDMA solves the urgent problems of network providers and manufacturers of wireless communication equipment through:

  • Optimal use of expensive frequencies
MDMA allows for the adjustment of the data rate to the needs of the application. This leads to an optimal use of the precious channel capacity. At least since the auctioning of UMTS licenses the public has realized that frequencies are a valuable commodity. They can be exploited efficiently only if their bandwidth can be utilized as fully as possible. MDMA exploits bandwidth much better than common technologies. An expert on wireless communication, professor Dr. Jørgen Bach Andersen from the University of Aalborg (Denmark), certifies MDMA to be an “ideal method”. In other words, no transmission technique is more effective than MDMA.
  • Quality on Demand
MDMA does not only exploit the existing bandwidth optimally – the technology can also be adjusted dynamically to the required transmission quality. For example, an error rate of one percent is acceptable for phone calls, because speech is still understandable. Electronic bank transfers, however, require a dramatically lower error rate; even the slightest distortions are unacceptable. MDMA can be adjusted to the required quality of transmission at any time. Quality on demand (QoD) can be realized easily and the client can be billed individually.
  • High resistance to interference
The boom in wireless communication has a downside: More and more units compete in the crowded frequency bands for transmission capacity. This leads to errors in the process of communication, up to a total breakdown of radio networks. The signal used by MDMA is very robust against disturbances from other transmitters. Even a neighboring microwave oven in the same frequency band does not disturb an MDMA connection significantly.
  • Reduction of human exposure
Due to the high resistance of MDMA signals to interference the transmitting power for data transfer can be reduced to a great extent. Thus MDMA is the most “healthy” of all known systems for radio transmission, causing almost no human exposure. Network providers and equipment manufacturers understand: wireless communication will be more accepted, fears of the population can be reduced, long-lasting legal proceedings about the installation of transmitting plants – which are likely to come if UMTS is introduced – will be avoided. In their fight against human exposure, radiation experts from the German Ministry of Research count on MDMA and MCP.
  • Increased battery lifetime
Due to the fact that MDMA requires low transmission power to transfer information and the signal will be processed to a great extent in analog technology, the battery lifetime increases dramatically. Instead of several months, units with MDMA technology will operate for a couple of years. Only when both the cable for data transmission and the bothersome connection to a power outlet are replaced, will products become truly “wireless”.
  • Reduced cost of devices
To a great extent MDMA uses analog signal processing reducing the need for expensive digital technology. Thus not only can power consumption be reduced, but the cost of devices also drops considerably.

Other Features

  • Versatile
MDMA is extremely versatile: The basic technology is appropriate for every kind of radio data transmission, sometimes in combination with MCP technology (Multi Choice Precoding). MDMA and MCP are the result of four years of research at Nanotron Technologies GmbH, Berlin.
  • Completely New Technology
MDMA technology was developed after a comprehensive revaluation of the fundamentals of communication technology by Nanotron Technologies. MDMA does not merely improve on existing transmission systems, but rather represents a completely new technology.
  • Patent Protected
    MDMA
was developed by Nanotron Technologies and is protected worldwide by 15 Patents.
  • Dealing with Echoes: MCP
To deal with echoes in wireless transmissions, Nanotron Technologies developed MCP.
